Matthew Hanson, Former Assistant Director of Economic Recovery Management Team at Arizona Governor’s Office of Strategic Planning & Budgeting
Used eCivis’ grant management software to accelerate distribution of COVID-19 funding and streamline tracking and performance.
Saw 24% increase in federal grant revenues.
Saw cost savings of more than $500,000 per year.
Centralized the management of over $14.5 billion in federal grants and more than 55 state agencies, departments, boards, and commissions working together to enrich the lives of the citizens of Arizona.
Our hero, Matt Hanson, and his team at the State of Arizona faced what many state governments have had to grapple with during the pandemic: quickly and effectively distributing funding to other local entities who desperately need funding while ensuring every dollar is accounted for. Not to mention more scrutiny dedicated to compliance and administrative measures. Unfortunately, many of Arizona’s state agencies had been operating on manual paper-based processes, significantly delaying the distribution of critical funding.
In an effort to expedite the disbursement of COVID-19-related funding across the state, Matt and his team at the Governor’s Office launched the Arizona Public Assistance Pay Program through eCivis. This system accelerated the delivery of public assistance to local governments, tribal communities, schools, nonprofit organizations, and houses of worship for FEMA-eligible projects related to COVID-19 response and recovery efforts.
The program is managed by heroes at the Department of Emergency and Military Affairs (DEMA) and centralizes the disbursement and tracking of funding from FEMA’s Category B Public Assistance Program to ensure the continued delivery of critical services to Arizonans.
Arizona is thrilled to deploy a true end-to-end grants management solution…this system dramatically reduces time spent on administrative compliance. Agencies can focus their efforts on activities that will truly benefit the Arizona taxpayer.
